The programming term AJAX will begin its first Anniversay on Feb 18th 2006, the day the "programming" term was first coined.
Although, the techology had been around much longer in Outlook Web (XMLHttp) and, traces it roots to TAXI by Tim Bray in May 2001 , Google Maps, Google Suggests etc., creating a unified Marketing Buzzword was what has brought the Technology Concept into the public's consciousness.

Even on the Microsoft site, which intially resisted the term, returns results as AJAX or ATLAS AJAX on developer pages of their site
As of Today Amazon Returns 21 definite programming books with query AJAX and Web - and many more potentials with just the term AJAX:

and the Yahoo Directory
On the Software site Downloads (dot) Com is displaying TEN AJAX downloads using that term as their descripitions.
